Friends Don’t Let Friends Write Bad Sex

Welcome to the Abridged Smut Writing Bible!

Recently, I did a guest spot at All The Kissing giving tips about how to write sex scenes. It’s a great resource if you’re just getting started writing your first fictional sexy times, or if you want to take the scenes you’re already writing and boost them to the next level.

I wanted to link it here on my website so all my writing resources are in the same place. It goes along really well with my past posts on How to Write Steamy Sexual Tension and Writing Sex and Violence: What Your Action Scenes Can Teach to Your Getting Action Scenes.

Quick shout out also to All The Kissing, which is a fantastic online community for romance writers. They have a blog that has no holds barred discussions of writing craft topics pertinent to our genre (and really, they let me post my Smut Writing Bible with not a whiff of censorship, so clearly these ladies have a volcano-atomic blushing threshold). They also do a weekly hashtag game on Twitter called #FridayKiss to share steamy lines from your ms. They’re a fun group and a great resource, so check out their website after you follow the link to my post.

And while I’m linking sex scene resources, I might as well also add a video chat I did with Writer Moms about how to get started writing sex scenes. We did a lot of Q&A, and the chat turned out both educational and hilarious, so do check it out. Rated “earbuds” for don’t listen in front of children.
